Volvo Penta 8.1 GI-f & Fuel flow meters

I have a 2006 VP 8.1L Gi-F that I also bought the YDEG-04 for to show info on my chartplotter via NMEA 2000. I hooked it up to the engine via the 10 pin connecter but keep getting the red blink for the engine. It blinks green on the NMEA side, but no data from the engine. I've tried several configurations in the software, but should just be able to use the default setup the way I understand it. I also am unsure of how I have it connected. The 10 pin comes in a Y and I hook it up in series with the system off the original 6 pin connector as pictured. However, the description on the web page doesn't describe it this way yet I don't seem to see another 10 pin connector. (I am disconnecting a 10 pin connector on the engine and inserting this adapter between the two to 'reconnect' them) Am I doing something wrong? The engine runs perfect this way so the data has to be flowing I assume. Thanks for the help. Pics of your set up would be awesome as well.

@dingbat for some reason the other thread was closed. Here is the link to all the adapters for the different engine models I was talking about if you saw that message. My research leads me to believe I need the 10 pin, but was asking the OP because he has the EXACT engine I do and used a 10 pin.
