volvo penta AQ130 parts?

I have an old timer 1977 volvo penta AQ130 with 2 PAI carbs on it. I must say I am having a heck of a time finding parts for this thing. If anyone could let me know where i might find parts it would be much appreciated.

Sitting in Denmark with access to Sweden, that should be no problem !<br /><br />Basically that motor is a B20 which you'll find in several old Volvo cars as well. Parts that are not marinised in conversion will be the same.<br /><br />Are you lookng for any specific part?

As of right now i am looking for a starter, and carb rebuild kit. I called many places but they tell me i need to know if the engine is an A,B,C, or D. I can't find that anywhere on the engine all it says is AQ130. Then another place tells me that the letter only tells me what carbs are on it, but i already know what kind of carbs. So i think people might be jerking me around. Not sure...

The B20 came in more versions - A, B, C and D. That's true all right. <br /><br />AQ130A: Used with the 100 and 250 series drive, ran 9.5:1 compression ratio and used Stromberg carbs. Rated at 130 hp. <br /><br />AQ130B: Same as above but ran 8.4:1 compression ratio. Rated at 115 hp. <br /><br />AQ130C: Used with the 250 and 270 series drive, ran 9.5:1 compression ratio and used Solex 44PA1 carbs. Rated at 130 hp. <br /><br />AQ130D: Used with the 280 series drive, ran 9.0:1 compression ratio and used Solex 44PA2 carbs. Rated at 130 hp. <br /><br />Unless the starter is absolutely gone any auto-electric workshop can rebuild it for much less than a replacement. Remember to say it is for marine use - must be insulated for this purpose.<br /><br />Carb kit should be available if you get the exact carb make and model specs.<br /><br />Also: Keep an eye on your budget, that old engine may have a hard time keeping the value you invest in it.

I bought Carb Kits from my VP dealer in New Zealand in the last few months. No problems with availability.<br />The Needle Valve assy is the same as used on VW GOLF.<br />Any competent Auto Elec shop should be able to rebuild your starter.<br />You are a lot closer to manufacturers supply than I am.<br />Good luck.<br /><br />Peter
