Re: Volvo Penta AQ170

There isn't a lot to know about the inline 6. It's a relatively simple, cast iron engine. They were produced before V-6 engines became popular and are now no longer produced and outdated. Parts like the fuel pump, carbureators, and oil cooler are the same as some of the other Volvo 4 cylinder engines of the same era so some parts are still available.

Getting one rebuilt or finding a replacement in decent condition is going to take a little work. You'll have to ask around at local marine stores and keep an eye out on craigslist and ebay.

You can find manuals for the engine and outdrive here: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?p=2360521#post2360521.

There are parts breakdowns here: http://www.volvopentastore.com/AQ170/dm/*******.107461929--**********.595203242--store_id.366--view_id.342831

Hope that helps.
