i have a volva penta aq170a overheating found gasket on exhaust manifold elbow at
rear has 4 holes should it not have those holes plus 2or 3 slots so water can get out of
exhaust to keep large rubber gasket from getting hot is this the wrong gasket
i just purchased this glaspar boat recently

These mostly overheat because of cylinder head issues. Very common on them.

Ah. So I might go back on myself here, with my last comment. Is this the old straight 6 170 ? If so, it may not be accurate, what I’ve said above. This would relate more to the 4 cylinder 171. That’s the motor I was thinking on. Apologies if so.

look up your parts at volvopentastore.com

most likely it overheated from either the raw water fitting on the drive is corroded, or the impeller was neglected.
