Volvo penta dp290 water hose

I have bought a new sea water hose(876632 )thst goes through the transom then into the leg. Question is where does the oring go the seaward side of the flanged end of the pipe or the inboard side where the chrome tube bolt to the transom shield

O-ring is most likely the one under the pivot tube
