Engine D-4-260 Diesel with Outdrive DPH-A-1.85
Need to replace the two bearings in the jackshaft intermediate housing assy. P/N 3807369. From what it looks like I need to remove the entire outdrive to gain access to the tensioning ring (P/N 873048) and rubber rings (P/N 858464). Presently I have removed the lower gear housing (ease of handing outdrive) and started removing the entire fork assy. but the two pivot pins (side pins) are the last two pins needed to be removed but they are really stuck. Have tried heating them as well as using a home-made bolt and washer tool applying steady pressure but no luck budging the pins. From reading DPH-A drive manual the pivot pins are to be removed toward the bellows assy.? Question is: am I better off just removing the steering knuckle or the entire fork assy. with outdrive.? Looking for guidance here so as not to damage transom housing etc.
