Volvo Penta Gimble

Hi, I have a 1986 Volvo Penta AQ131A with a Volvo 275 outdrive. I suspect the gimble bearing is starting to go because the outdrive "shudders" during high speed turns. What are the symptoms of gimble bearing failure and what's involved in changing it? I've read on previous posts that some models required an engine pull. I'm hoping just the outdrive has to come off. Sounds more like u-joints to me.<br />The 275 didn't have a "Gimbal Bearing" Like OMC and Mercruiser and the newer Volvo SX series. There is a bearing in the bellhousing, and it does require an engine pull to replace.
