I am trying to change the water pump in my 1978 Volvo Penta 9 hp OUTBOARD. The pin on the shift rod seems to be in an inaccessable area. I can see the shift rod and where it passes through the shift lever, but the cottor pin is positioned on the back side where I can't see or get to it. Does anyone know how to get around this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
