Volvo Penta Raw Water Pumps

Have a 2001 Chris Craft 308. Marina tech said my raw water pumps are leaking and need to be replaced. ($1400 plus labor). That seems a little high in my book. First are their repair kits for the raw water pumps or if not, what is a reasonable price for the pump.
How difficult is it to replace? Thanks for any assistance. I live in Fairfax, Virginia.

Try to look up a couple other VP mechanics in your area - give that question to them. Just because your guy said one thing doesn't necessarily mean it's cut in stone. A little searching may save you some bucks.
Personally, I feel that's a little steep.
