Rather frustrated as I am now in the shop for my second Trim Pump Assembly. First one was originally leaking from the plastic plug hole on the side. This was replaced under warranty on 7/15/2011 with a supposed upgraded/newer pump #21573834 which was a different design. Replaced and all was good until I went to move the boat today and the lower unit was all the way down again. Tried moving up and no go. Has the same sound as last time, like an internal seal went to hell, gargling sound. No visible leaks, but same issue.

I've seen some posts, sounds like this is some what of a common issue. Anyone have the replacement one go bad?

Dealer said this should be covered by Volvo, if not, then hopefully by them since it's been less than a year. Just frustrated as heck as this is the 2nd time in prime boating season. What a horrible design, might try and reach out to local rep.

....End Rant

Lots of views, no replies. :( I was hoping someone had a similar experience, or had some further information on the problem.

I have a 1995 volvo penta SX with a 3.0L engine. similar issues, bleeds off after about 10 minutes. I found several threads through Iboats. one reccomended to replace the seals in the rams. did that, no luck. Another post reccomended cleaning the check valves in the pump housing...did that...still bleeds off.

Any response might help.

thanks

Same trim pump problem, thought it is my first failure for my 2007 5.0GXi-G. Dealer told me Volvo admitted it is a design issue and new pump is needed, but Volvo won't cover the cost unless it is within the warranty period.
