I'm looking into replacing my u-joints on a 2000 Volvo penta SX-M drive.

Volvo's parts site states you have to buy the complete shaft with yokes and replace as a unit.

Anyone familiar with this drive? Do I have to replace the whole shaft or are the u-joints able to be replaced?

Thanks

You can buy just the U-joints as far as i know.

Post the engine and drive model and serial numbers and i'm sure one of out Volvo Techs can give you the part number.

You can replace just the ujoints, and there are part numbers, but need to know if you have the C shaped keepers inside the yokes, or snap rings on the outside of ujoint caps.

Not necessary to replace the shaft. Sounds like someones givin' you the shaft.
