I have a 2010 VP 5.7Gxi in a 2010 Stingray.
It has developed a vibration at 1000-1200 rpm in or out of gear.
After two weeks at a Volvo dealer in Fl they have diagnosed incorrect factory fitting of the drive/engine:
[]Volvo had us check a few things and we have determined that the alignment of the motor & drive is not correct. The motor needs to come down but the motor is at the bottom of the adjustment travel now. To make the alignment correct the stringers must be notched to allow the motor to come down or the transom needs to be filled and recut higher.
The gimble bearing is wearing so you will notice the vibration more and more as it wears. Engine placement and alignment is a boat company responsibility (as per Volvo) so you will want to contact Stingray and see how they want to proceed. If they need to contact us have them as for Tim if they call. We will be glad to do the work or assist Stingray in any way.
The problem now is Stingray say it is impossible for them to be at fault and are blaming Volvo- Volvo blame Stingray, with me in the middle.
Who is right? Should I accept a brand new boat being cut about/major work? Will it ever be the same again??
