Just picked up my boat over the weekend. Can someone help me out with what engine this is?

First things first, I cleaned the boat up a bit before I tried starting it. I found that the battery was dead so I pulled it and put it on the charger over night. Next thing was to pull the plugs and inspect the wires. When I did this, I did it with out realizing I pulled the wires and didnt check to see which wire went to which cylinder. I played with it for a while, dealt with allot of backfiring, and I believe that I finally got it right since the backfiring stopped but now its not firing. Anyone know how it goes?

It looks like an AQ125. There should be a tag on the port side of the engine, attaced to the block around the distributor and fuel pump area. It will tell you exactly.

Is the rotor on the distributor still turning when you crank the engine?

Re: Volvo Penta?

It looks indentical to my AQ131, 2.3 litre. What year is the boat? Firing order is 1 3 4 2. By the colors it looks like a Wellcraft Excel?

Have a great day,

Rob.

Ad make sure you get the firing rotation correct. If you have an after market manual it will be listed incorrectly. Reason #1 not to use them.
