I have a volvo 3.0GS (LK) engine. I'm not sure of the brand of waterpump. I purchased the boat last season and am clueless when the previous owner changed the impeller last. I bought an impeller kit and was going to change it tonight. When I opened it up it wasn't how I expected it to look. I expected the impeller to be centered inside the water pump, but it's not. The sprocket the impeller goes on is positioned off center towards the top. The veins on the impeller barely have any clearance towards the top and are squished. I've had no cooling issues. Is this normal? I downloaded the owners manual but the pictures aren't clear enough to see if that's normal.
If it is normal, does the impeller look like it needs to be changed? It looked to be in good condition to me. The rubber didn't look/feel brittle, all veins are there, and all the tips are still round (no flattening). Or should I change it anyway? Any tips on getting that sucker out? It was in there pretty tight.
