Volvo Wiring Diagram Add On

Be careful when downloading information from a "Sticky" third party website. Yesterday I downloaded a wiring diagram that unfortunately included "Searchnu" malware. This virus hijacked my Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome brousers, rendering them useless. I found helpful sites to guide me thru recovery procedures which took the best part of the day.

Some information on "Searchnu" from Remove Searchnu, removal instructions

Searchnu is classified as a browser hijacker. When infected you will see that your web browsers will start with searchnu.com rather than google.com or any other search engine you had before. Searchnu installs as a bundle with other programs, so mostlikely you installed it yourself. When installing some freeware programs you must read software licence agreement and see what checkboxes are checked in the instalation process.

Don: The sticky went to FaceBook and finally linked me to http//boatinfo.no/lib/volvo/manuals/ef_wiring.html. In the process I somehow downloaded Bandoo which included Searchnu. I don't believe the problem is associated with boatinfo but my point is due diligence be observed when leaving iboats and watch out for Bandoo. Alan

I think you must have had it prior to going to boatinfo, because there are no facebook links in any of the stickies.

I'm moving this over to non-boating technical topics. It's not really a Volvo repair or have anything to do with Volvo.
