My Volvo 270 outdrive will not raise up like it should (not trim, just tilt) without some coaching. I have checked the tilt motor and it's fine. I discovered a while ago that I have to manually release the latch pawl and then the drive will come up. So, I tied a 8' length of clothesline rope to the pawl that is routed up into the boat...long enoough so that I could reach it while being also able to run the tilt switch. I pull the line tight while running the tilt motor in an attempt to manually release the pawl and then the drive would usually lift. I was willing to live with that situation, but what has been happening recently is that when I pull the line tight while running the tilt switch in "raise mode" the drive still does not raise (but the drive tilt indicator indicates it has come up at least some because the tilt indicator light comes on), but if I then lower the drive to it's fully down position (so the drive tilt indicator light goes off), and then run the tilt switch in the raise mode, the drive then finally comes up. Kind of hard to explain.

I'm sure something is slightly out of adjustment but I have no idea what and how to adjust it. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!
