Im chaning the zinc on my drive as one side is 1/2 gone. Its a volvo 270. I can get the prop off and everything up to the line cutter. Is there any tricks to getting the line cutter off and is there gonna be anything else behind the line cutter that i need to look at and replace besides the zinc?

Nothing else just the line cutter sometimes you have to destroy the line cutter to get it off.

Well nothing like breaking off a $30 part to replace a $15. Some how i got the line cutter off but still have the collar for it still on the shaft. It twists and turns easy just for some reason cant get it to come off the shaft.. Any ideas? Channel locks maybe? Did i break the lower unit?

Here is a picture, you can see the collar. im generally not forcful with these things..

That is the collar for the line cutter it will come off ,maybe there is a burr on the shaft keeping it from coming off.

I dunno, according to the IPL's it doesnt show there being a lip for it to get stuck into. I may have to remvoe the bearing housing to get it off. Dont want to cause i dont really want to replace the o-rings and open up a bigger can of worms.

Anyone familiar with these drives got a trick to remove that line cutter collar? Without remove the bearing housing?

I hope i didnt screw up too bad? No ideas? I may have to pull the bearing housing to get it off? Cant see how this is stuck on there should be no lip on the collar and if there was how in heck they get the bearing housing on over the line cutter to lock it in.
