Hello everyone,
I have twin VP 4.3GSPLKD SX-M in my boat. This year I rebuilt both carbs, and was surprised to find no power valve in the primary metering plate of either carb. This is puzzling to me, I have the factory set of "LK" manuals and the powervalve is clearly shown in the GS carbs. This is not a plug or modification, the metering plate simply is not machined for one.
I've searched the forums and seen this on some other LK engines....

...but I still dont understand why VP would have this setup. If the power valve's job is to richen the mix at high vac/rpm , then I can only assume that the carbs are jetted a little rich throughout the RPM range.
What benefits does this setup have?
Is it that VP set this carb up to run at idle or WOT and nowhere in between? I suppose that is feasible, for a marine engine - but certainly not how I run my cruiser.
Any thoughts?
Below is my primary metering plate.
