Hi,
I have a VP 5.7 Gi-B, 2003 model. Recently a hole was found in the sump so the engine was pulled. The sump was replaced, as was the fuel pump and the starter motor. Engine completely cleaned and repainted and reinstalled by a very reputable mechanic.
Everything seems to run fine with the exception of an intermittent start issue. Either hot or cold, its a roll of the dice as to whether it starts when you turn the key, or whether you have to give it some gas.
The procedure I use is to turn the key until you hear the beep and the whine of the fuel pump stop, wait a few seconds, then start. Starter motor turns over fine but 50% of the time, engine won't start unless I put the throttle forward a bit in neutral.
I've previously (a few years ago) posted this issue but now that so many parts have been replaced and the issue is still there, I'm hoping someone might have some things to try.
Thanks in advance!!
David.
