Hi all,
I'm considering the purchase of a 2002 Fourwinns H200 with a 5.0 GXI Paired with an SX drive. While looking it over today with the owner I noticed some strange oily residue on the outside of the drive. It looks like the right trim cylinder is potentially leaking hydraulic fluid. Could this explain the oily residue in the pictures? I'm not as familiar with VP stuff, I've primarily owned Merc boats but this boat is a fairly good deal and the rest of the boat is in great shape other than a trailer issue and this oily residue on the drive. Please let me know what you think this oily residue could be coming from. There doesn't seem to be much of a smell to the oil, I think gear oil from the drive usually has a pretty strong smell right?
Thanks for any suggestions,
BTW: its the oil in the last photo that I don't understand the most. Its on the upper part of the gimbal housing just forward of the mating surface to the upper gear case. Don't seem to understand how a leaky trim cylinder is producing oil here...
