Re: vro alarm

To test the oil alarm, you have to run on pre-mix with the oil hose disconnected. This can sometimes take several minute's before you get a warning horn. After the test, don't forget to prime the oil hose. You can't short out a oil horn like a over-heat horn to test.

Re: vro alarm

R Johnson Hi and thanks for the reply,i drained the oil tank, i thought this would work if i turned the ignition on with no oil. i am still learning i am used to I/O units this is a diffrent beast. by what i understand the motor has to be running to test the alarm. thanks a lot claude 70.

Re: vro alarm

claude....there are two different alarms here. There is the low oil in the tank alarm, and then there is the no oil going into the VRO pump alarm. They should sound different from one another. Either way, no matter which one you are testing, you have to run that motor on premix while you are testing it. Good luck.

Re: vro alarm

I would think the low oil alarm would sound with only the key in the on position. No oil, it would have to be running.

Re: vro alarm

Low oil, or no oil, the engine has to be running. As I stated before, the engine may run several minutes before you get an alarm. Don't forget to purge the oil line, and reprime after the test. Again! this test is done on pre-mix. I think I know what Rick is thinking here, and a alarm with no oil, and the key on would make sense. This would be true if the oil box had a float type sensor, but it does'nt.

Re: vro alarm

Don't forget to drain all of the non premixed gas out of the fuel line and pump up with pre mix before starting the motor

Re: vro alarm

This would be a good precausion, but nothing to <br /> worry about. The engine will have enough residual lubrication until the pre-mix picks up. Keep in mind! we are running at low rpm's with no load here.
