I have 1984 evinrude 90hp vro. I have read a few post on here about removing the vro. I got this motor from my neighbor. it was also given to him. I dont know if it was working before or not. I pulled the oil hose and capped it off, but I have wires running into a circuit board looking thing on the vro unit. Do I need to disconnect any wires, or is it good to go? Thanks

Re: vro question

If you have mixed the oil and gas and disconnected the oil tank, all of the VRO alarm system wires need to be disconnected except for the overheat wires running from the cylinder heads.

Be sure to ground the overheat switch wires to be sure that the circuit is still active and that the horn will sound.

Re: vro question

The four wires go to a panel on the other side of the motor. So can I just unscrew them? Is there a gasket kit for the vro unit itself? I think a gasket is leaking, and I dont want to buy a new vro.. Thanks
