I know we beat this topic to death ,but on search I can't find an answer. So experts now is your time to edumacate us. My 87 90 hp erude model E90TLCUR once in awhile will give a no oil alarm. Only happens on start up when idleing or once after an hour use at reg speeds a few mins idle. One pump of the oil bulb or just speeding up the motor will shut it up. Have replaced a couple of lines and clamps and checked the rest, did not use zip tyes or screwdrive clamps. It is a 21 year old pump and after what happened to kenmyfam when he was up at my lake I thought this winter I might put on a new pump as preventive maintance. Maybe the old diaphrams are getting worn. I can find pumps on evil bay for pretty good prices. I would like to keep the oil injection, have had lots of sleds with it...3 now..and I like it. I have premixed fuel for dirt bikes for 40 years starting with Castrol R and have prob used anything you can think of since. I like the oil injection, no muss no fuss lots of oil when you need it , not when you don't. Now on evil bay I can buy a VRO pump with parts numbers that look good for a good price. Only thing is it will not have an alarm hook up for no oil. Anyone done this or know of stuff like this, in other words a pump that will give me oil and fuel mixing but with no alarm. Is this safe so to speak? I have no prob with the oil level alarm, every time I refill my tank I check the oil tank, just a habit from the sleds. My org pump is a 174565 and it superseds through several numbers to 5007423. 174425 is this pumps number and from checking online at Dixie marine it should work. For 125 bucks it would be cheap peace of mind and I could keep my old for a spare in a pinch, fuel side is fine. All right everyone give it too me, I'm in VRO hell......lol....cheers

Re: VRO replacement pump w/o alarm

To be honest Phil, I now just love my premix !!!!!
I now know that if there is fuel going in then I have lubrication as well. I always had in the back of my mind that if the VRO ever failed me I would do just that. It is a little smokey at idle but I love the smell anyway !!!!!
I looked into going VRO again when I got home but decided against it after the thoughts that if it does fail I will need a new motor.
I am now a proud premixer with no fear that I am not lubing the motor as long as I put the oil in !!!!
Saw a VRO failure at Georgian Bay at Civic holiday weekend. Result.....New motor needed !!!!!
If you are keeping the VRO then make sure the oil tank is clean and the "sock" is unplugged in the tank intake. I checked mine when I took it off after I got home and it was just a little dirty.

Just for the record.....if there is no alarm then I would not use it.

Totally agree. If there's no alarm you might as well premix. No alarm with premixing either.

If the pump has no alarm, it is one of the orignial pumps, or a pump that had the alarm removed, which may be worse then the one you have.

Number 174877 is VRO-2 four wire pump, The orignial pn should cross to a four wire VRO-2 pump. If pump is new old stock, it should have a tag on one of the fuel nipples that ids the pump as a VRO-2
