VRO Reservoir Wiring Help...

I recently purchased a pontoon with a 1987 40hp Evinrude with a VRO system. I had the seats reupholstered and the guy cut two wires going to the remote oil reservoir. I'm assuming these are sensor wires for low oil quantity, but I'm not sure. My dilemma is I can't find out if it matters which wires get connected or if they are both part of the "loop" that activates the horn so it doesn't matter which one gets connected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Should be a black wire and a brown wire. Put them back together the same way.
