VRO upgrade?

I know there is allot of posts on vro's, I've read most of them. Let me start by saying "no" I don't want to pre-mix fuel. Now my question. I have an original 84 vro on my Evinrude 115. never had a probem with it to be honest. I have recently come into possession of a vro2 three wire from a working 87 90hp johnson. I would like to exchange this newer version with my old one. Ofcourse the old system has no wires this later version has three wires. I've learned from reading the history of the vro document that OMC or should I say BRP makes a harness adapter P/N 174710 for the 84&85 model year. I have already upgraded the oil tank and wired it to my motor and it has been working for years. Also I've read that the early systems had a black pulse limiter nipple, and should be replaced with a new version which is blue. Is the above wire harness adapter and the new pulse limiter the only parts I will need for this change or am I missing something? And finally does anyone know if the adapter I need has to be ordered through a dealer or can I ordered it online from someone else like CDI. Thanks. Walt.

Re: VRO upgrade?

it would be a dealer part. as to the rest of your question IDK. if i were changing out. i would go with OMS pump. superior to VRO & VRO 2. i realize you have a VRO2 as replacement.

Re: VRO upgrade?

I agree with you, if I was going to a new pump I would absolutely go with the new OMS pump. But I'm just going one up with what I have available. Thanks for the info. Walt.
