Re: vro

They did in the past but to be safe I would bite the bullet and buy a new pump.

Re: vro

Buying a new pump is probably not a bad idea, If you need one. It seems like a 1998 would have had to get an awful lot of use to need replacement.
It's a $265 hit and IMO, worth doing, (I did), but only if it is really needed.
Obviously you have reason to feel the old one is bad. What have been the symptoms that caused that feeling?
You may just need to service the filters, pick up, tank and bleed the oil line of air. The primer bulb on the VRO needs a lot more squeezes than a fuel primer. Possibly as many as 50. I took my oil line off the motor fitting and squeezed the bulb until oil was pumped every time I squeezed it. It took a long time. I then made a mark on the oil tank and ran pre-mix along with the VRO until I was sure it was working.

Re: vro

The '98 and later pumps have the "VRO" parts listed in the regular parts catalogs.

You can tell a '98 or later pump by the inlet and outlet fittings being replaceable and held in place with an oval metal retainer fastened by Torx screws.

That all is explained in the FAQ forum, section F

Re: vro

Rebuilding the VRO pump is about the same level of difficulty as rebuilding a carb. Maybe less.

That said, there's not a whole lot to go wrong inside the pump. Do a *LOT* of trouble shooting to locate the problem before replacing/rebuilding the pump. Really look close at the hoses and connections .

Re: vro

The 1998 and later service manuals show you how to test and repair the "VRO" pumps, step by step.
