Hey all! hope things are well on the water. Good here. A few questions on the VRO2 on my 85 Evinrude 120 (CE120TLCO) and the VRO2 it has on it. Id like to order a fuel side repair kit or whatever I need. I'd like to make sure the pump is up to snuff. Maybe all I need is a new diaphram. I'm starting to get confused on the parts I want to get and the part numbers. Anybody care to share their knowledge. It may sound like I'm throwing parts at it that are not needed but we are going away for 2 weeks and am trying to make sure we have no problems. Last summer when the boat was in the water for the two weeks, as the days went on, it seems like it was getting harder and harder to start. When it did, a bunch blue smoke appeared. If it sat for any longer than a few hrs, it would take a bit to start. When it did, it seemed to run fine. If you started it with in say 30 min, it would fire up instantly. It seems to be doing the same thing this summer. I have new fuel filter from on board tank, plugs and check that the buzzer worked. I also put half a can of seafoam in with fresh fuel. These things are making me think that the diaphram in the fuel pump is getting weak. It is an 1985.

Thanks!

Sid

Re: VRO2 diaphram

next time you try to cold start, pump the primer ball hard & flip the primer solenoid red handle up...
have you ever cleaned the screen in the primer solenoid? can you hear it when you push the key in?

as for the VRO repair kit... i got my kit last summer from... http://www.maxrules.com/fixomcindex.html

Thanks! I will have to look into this primer solenoid thing. I will get in touch with maxrules about what I need.
