"VRO2" fuel goes backward through oil hose?

Since I tried to fix the VRO2 on my 1995 Evinrude 115HP. Have no fuel hose / oil hose crack or leaks. Alert buzzer replaced and tested fine.

The no oil buzzer goes off after 1 or 2 minutes. Had to hand prime to stop the buzz.

If I let the motor keep going with the no oil alert, the water from the water outlet gets pretty hot then overheat alert goes off.

Tested with clear hose with filled 2 stroke oil in the clear hose. At start up, found the fuel goes through the clear hose for 1 to 2" then started to suck the 2 stroke oil back after 30 sec.

My question is should the fuel goes backward through oil hose? I suspect the O-ring on the oil pump piston is worn out.

Oil must be coming through the oil outlet check valve or oil piston seal or a crack somewhere. You will need a new pump in any case.

If it's still running okay disconnect the oil system on the vro and use it as a fuel pump only. Then mix your gas 50:1. Wait until you see the price of a new vro.

Thanks all. it's running on pre-mix at the moment. Sounds like VRO repair kit can't fix it. Going to get a new VRO2 soon.
