Wakeboard Rack mounting question

My boat does not have a wakeboard tower, but I have 1" rails all the way around. I'm looking for a way to mount a rack somewhere, but all the mounts that I have seen require at least a 1-1/2" mount post. Anyone mounted a rack on a 1" post? Thoughts/ideas?

Standard 1" hand rails are not designed to handle a waketower. You will either bend it or rip it off the boat. You need to mount brackets to the boat using a backing plate or block of wood to anchor the bracket through the fiberglass.

I believe he is wanting to mount a wake board rack and not a tower to the handrail.

You could could get some 1 1/2'' OD aluminum or bar stock then drill out the center to the OD of your hand rail. Then cut the piece in half and install the two halves in the bracket of board rack, then attach to your hand rail.

Could install one like this board rack

PM me if interested.

Ah, I misunderstood the question. There is a recent forum dedicated to this very question. Some have suggested mounting an 1.5" hand rail similar to a bathroom safety rail and then mounting the rack to that. Check out the other thread...Rack without tower

Yeah, not a tower, just a board rack. I actually did order that exact board holder so I'm going to make some adjustments to that and give it a try. Thanks!
