Wakeboard Tower or Pylon

I have a 2002 Regal 1800 LSR. I would like to help out the 135HP by adding a wakeboard tower or pylon to help get the skier/wakeboarder up with a full boat. I have heard the concerns about stress cracks when a wakeboard tower is installed without reinforcement or the hull is less than 3/8". I don't know how thick the hull is. The pylon would work, but now you have all the cables in the way. I would also have to take it down in order to put the canvas cover on.

I think I can reinforce the area where the wakeboard tower connects to the boat. Any ideas?! I was thinking of building up the areas with fiberglass. Basically, beef up the thickness.
