Re: walmart deep cycle battery?

I have been using Everstart Marine Maxx dual purpose batteries (group 31) for years to start main engines and to run MinnKota maximizer equipped trollers, as well as sonar, VHF and GPS.

Never a problem. Will run the troller for hours and then start whatever you have.

You can probably get better batteries for twice the price, but they aren't twice the value or twice the battery.

thats all I've been using. Same batts for my house banks & starter now for the third season. The best deepcycle batts to use imo are Trojans for golf carts or electric lift carts. These will give the longest use but cost more.

Re: walmart deep cycle battery?

I've had a pair of Everstarts (one cranking and one deep cycle) for about two years now and have had absolutely no ptoblems with them. I suppose that as long as you take care of them and maintain them properly, they should last about as long as most batteries do.

Considering the price, I think they are a pretty good deal. Of course, there may be better batteries out there but you certainly will pay a higher price for them.

Up here in the cold country, they do not perform as well as my interstate batteries. They take longer to recharge and pound for pound they pack less of a punch, but that only carries weight if you have a small boat.

Re: walmart deep cycle battery?

I've had problems with 2 sets of them.First set I bought myself, they lasted one full season, after being properly stored, and topped up twice they would not hold a full charge the next season. The second set came with the last boat I bought. Also one year old, but they where left in the boat over the winter. Same thing after a full charge could barely turn the engine over.Could be I just had bad luck, or maybe they have improved, but for a few more bucks I now use Trojans, great batteries. I'm starting my fourth season with the same set, and there still going strong.

JIm

I think Wallmart bateries are as good as any. In lead acid batteries the way you care for them is everything.

Always charge as soon as possible, do not leave it discharged until friday after weekend use. Any lead acid Battery damage starts when it is discharged and the longer it discharged the more damage is done. If you charge when you return to dock or when you get home and never discharge too deep the battery will last a long time.

Wallmart has same warranty as everyone else and are a good price.

I have the "big yellow batteries" and like them. I'm sure Trojans are nice but I think they are twice the money. IMO the Walmart batteries are the best value.

Re: walmart deep cycle battery?

Check with me by the end of the boating season and I'll bet anyone that I have no less than 2 Pallets full of "NeverStarts". Is it because I am too close to the Wal-mart home office the reason I get the bad batteries!!!!HeHe TROJANS or AC-DELCO have my vote. Other than Optima's.

I have a Walmart house battery and it works just fine. I have an AC-Delco starting battery and it works just fine.

I'd get an AC-Delco but the auto parts stores absolutely bleed you for them.

I just took one back today that melted the posts right off the battery.

I do not care for them...thinking about going with the Optima.

Re: walmart deep cycle battery?

i paid $10.00 more for a Trojan 27 with more amps. on my aluminum fisherman i just use a walmart battery that fits my truck, all it pulls is a 12 volt trolling motor. i swap the batteries every 2 months.
