What kind of performance are you getting now? What size boat do you have?

Test compression, perform an engine decarbonizing, carburettor rebuild if you haven't already done this and finally replace the spark plugs with the correct type.

If your motor is within the recommended range perhaps 4,700 rpms of the 4,500 to 5,500 rpms, then I would increase the propeller pitch 1" to increase rpms' by 500 this would put you in the top part of the range and improve your hole shot.

Also remember that every 1,000 feet of altitude increase will lower your power 10%. Also hot and humid days will decrease power by reducing air pressure. Therefore, playing with propeller pitch and carburettor adjustments is the way to go.

Addition of Boysen Reeds will help a little here too...gives ya 150-200 rpm, better hole shot and very smooth idle....

Re: Want better performance

Be careful with overextending this motor as the piston and ring design was not good to begin with and you might end with broken rings...I would rather replace pistons and rings, hone the sleeves and conserve standard measurements before dealing with performance modification.
