want make 5500rpms

1990 evinrude will not run at 5500rpms in wot. carbs. rebuild two times this year,new fuel lines from carbs. to tanks.Orifices, needle valves & seat assembly clean & check ok.<br />boat gets on plane ok move leaver to wot trim<br />to little over half plane, all i can get is 5000rpms & 50mph, befor it get 5500>60.<br />plug are dry, power pack new two years old.<br />carbs open all the way, same proeller.same weight! where do i look? <br /> hardtime

Ya didn't saw which Evinrude Hardtime, but I'm gonna guess it's a V6 and I'm also gonna guess you've got a dead cylinder. V6's run so smooth that sometime it's hard to detect a dead miss. <br />If you'll give a little more intel, maybe we can figure out what the problem is.<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty

sir Hooty<br /> XP150 going to check cyls. today will let you know compression. also had motor work on three years ago. shop replaced rectifier, do not know<br />if they set timeing up or down, went in for high<br />speed miss, power pack fix that but they did not<br />fix, i did.

#2 is why you're having problems. Low compression on that cylinder. Try a decarb and check the readings again.<br /><br /> Decarb Procedure
