I am wanting to build a tube water slide that goes into the lake. I have a a very steep hill thats about 40 feet down. I want to put a tube slide or a slide that will go all the way down and into the lake. I don't know where to look to find information about this. Is there a place where I can buy 3 or 5 foot plastic tubes? Or do yall have any creative ideas?

I am also putting a zip line in. What would be the best materials to use for that?>

Used amusement park water slides can be found if you try really hard. ;) They're upgrading those things all the time. Out with the old, in with the new.

Easy.

Contact the municipal department and find out the culvert supplier. What you want is: Double Wall HDPE is a plastic corrugated pipe with a smooth core interior. It is best used for high flow usage when there is little or no grade. The improved water flow rates make downsizing possible in certain situations. The anti-adhesive, non-polar, slick surface nature of the HDPE plastic raw material minimizes solid waste build-up, and thus reduces cleaning maintenance costs. HDPE Plastic pipe provides superior resistance to the combined effects of sand-gravel sediment abrasion and its consequent effects on corrosion.

It comes in 20' lengths and it cuts easy with a chain saw. One 20' piece cut in halft will do 40' and a 24" will be plenty wide. Since it is double walled you can attach screws into the outside ribs to attach it to a frame.

Is it going to be for public or for private use?
If it is for public use, don't make anything, use only commercial materials made for this purpose.
for private use, think about liability if some one gets hurt.
sounds like it could be lots of fun, cover your ask is all I am saying!

Find out the municipal department of the water park?

I really would just like to build one out of wood, Then line it with plastic or something.

Municipal departments of most towns are responsible for replacing the drainage culerts and they would lead you to a source.

An alternative design is plywood covered in vinyl sheet floor covering.

Whatever desing you use be sure to have a water spray system to keep it wet or the slide burns will not be pretty.

My buddy has one at his cottage, it is about a 30" diameter tube and it snakes down the hill to the lake. It is similar to what would be at a water park. There is a pump down on the dock that pumps water out of the lake and up to the top of the slide. You can buy curved and straight sections and bolt them together to fit your property. It is similar to this: http://www.naturalstructures.com/products/pages/hillside_slides/Tri-Valley.htm

I will try to post a picture of his.

I'm with rwise. Forget about this idea unless you're insured...it's a liability nightmare...

You do remember what happened to all the water slide parks, don't you?

I tell ya the zip line is easy to make. We have put our 175 foot one up twice (we moved) and know the tricks to make it easier. You are just planning to have it go from tree to tree right? And not in the water? Give me a little more info, and I will tell ya how.

Re: Want to build a cliff tube slide....

no, I am wanting it to go in the water. If I had pictures, I would post them. I might try to get some.

It's on a really steep cliff. Here look at this http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=36.292782&lon=-86.571098&z=20&r=0&src=ggl

See the dock. See the tree sticking out to the right of the dock. Well, I was going to have one going from a tree on the cliff to that tree that goes out into the lake. The problem, It's a little to short. (it's to shallow to drop from the end of the tree) So then I was going to get two buckets of concrete and let it dry with some long poles in them. So I could drop them down into the lake. The the problem with that is the lake gets to like 20 feet deep way to fast. So I am trying to figure something out.

Any lawyer with a brain can get around any disclaimer. You build it, you're responsible. Period!
