want to buy a boat need advice please

Okay i have an old cobia that i was going to fix up but the cost of repairs is more than i want to put in it.

i need somthing i can dive, fish, ski, tubing with enough room for at the most 5 people. i was looking at the Maxum bowriders 20' seems to what im looking for the boats look really nice.

can anyone suggest, and what do i need to look forif i buy a used one?

If used check everything out very well. Floor,transom,engine compartment for leaks.Have a compression test done on the cylinders. Drain a little of the lower unit oil and look for water or a milky color and metal shavings on the drain screw.
Give it at least an hour test run and keep a close eye on engine temp,oil pressure ect.
There are so many things that could be wrong that you won't notice at first.
What engine and drive are we talking about here?

The part that the propeller is attatched to. Make: Black= Mercruiser, White= OMC etc. Then model TRS, Alpha, Bravo, etc.

I just bought my first boat about a month ago (2006 sea ray 205). I got it from marine max. Now I know people are dogging marine max for thier price, but they earned my money by thier service. I spent around 26 K on my boat with a trailer and I am enjoying it a lot.

I have the 190 hp V6 in the boat and it has plenty of power. I especially love the boat handling. The things turns a lot better than some other boats out there. It's also a 3000 pound boat so it has a nice smooth ride.

As a side note, we are african americans and we encountered a lot of "double looks" at the brand X dealers. Marine max here in St. Louis treated us with mad respect and maybe thats why I am slanted towards them.
