1974 Chrysler 75 hs. 3 cyl. Model 757HA<br />Want to install new water pump or impeller because of no water discharge when running.It's been sitting for a while and the trouble I've had loosening the bolts and nuts and screws tell me that this unit has not been apart for a long, long time.Four of the six bolts holding the lower unit to the upper unit snapped off because they are corroded so bad.Even the hidden bolt inside the trim tab snapped off.I'll have to do lots of drilling out and repairing holes if I can ever get the lower unit to let go.<br /> I removed prop. and shaft and bearing.I can see the pinion nut,bearing and end of drive shaft.I removed the pinion nut and the lower unit dropped about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch but no more.I take it by the manual that the drive shaft should release from topside and the whole thing should drop.This is not happening.If the pinion brg. would finish sliding off the driveshaft then it would drop also,but this not happening either.I've chipped the casing in a couple of places prying and pulling on it.<br /> Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
