want to make sure water pump is working

My 1977 evinrude 70 hp has no sight pee hole , is it possible to but one or should I just leave it alone ? I know the water now comes out the exhaust and vents but when in the water I would like to see the pee hole shooting water ya know, peace of mind thanks for any comments..

Yes you can add one. The 3 CYL motors with 2 piece head
tapped into outer exhaust housing.
if you could find a motor like yours with it
Youll see the spot to install the fitting.

I have done it a few times and it is about the easiest thing I have did on a motor. I used to have the link telling you how to do it. I am sure some one will be on shortly with the link.

You could also install a temperature gauge that will come with a sending unit for your motor and you won't have to look back as much because you will see the temperature from right up front depending on your set up and will add a little more piece of mind and style.
