1 PALE OIL 4229 40-60%
2 NAPHTHA 20 25-35%
3 IPA 125 10-20% [Isopropyl Alcohol]

Might actually be better to make your own and use TC-W3 oil and lower the amount of alcohol.

Ok LubeD, sounds good. Where do we get all the ingredients? Especially Pale Oil. Never heard of it.

Pale oil:
According to Texaco: * process oil refined until its color (measured by transmitted light) is straw to pale yellow.

According to NOCO: * are light coloured, non-staining naphthenic oils refined from specially selected wax-free crude through the use of severe hydrogenation.

You can get the alcohol almost anywhere.
The naphtha at a decent hardware store.

Many light machine oils fall under the pale oil umbrella, so it can be bought at a hardware store as well.

You should be able to mix up 4 gallons for about $20.

Now, if LubeDude can figure out how to get it into a spray can, so I can spray it into the cylinders?

Take the mixture down to your local specialty paint store. They can load it into spray cans for you. I have no idea what they would charge though.

What amazes me is the quantity of the actual Naptha, It`s mostly oil. No wonder it smokes like heck when you do a decarb with it. I`m no chemist, but I would think that 10% oil would be plenty. And, I wonder why any alcohol at all? Maybe the oil keeps the carbon soft after the naptha softens it.

I dunno Lube. It's your formula. If you don't know, who would?:p

Or you could just pour water down your intake for the exact same effect. ;) It doesn't matter what you use, just about any liquid will decarb your engine. The oil is there so that it can be marketed as a multi purpose lubricant. The alcohol is there to absorb water and stabilize fuel. The naptha is just a general purpose solvent. They really don't have a special effectiveness when combined, they're just all in the same can so you can use the same can for many purposes.

Just makes no sence to me to spend $4-7 dollars for it when you can make the same thing for .50.

Sence when does alcohol stablize fuel?:^

That's why I use water. ;)

Many commercial fuel stabilizers are alcohol based. Seafoam of course is also advertised as a stabilizer, oil and naptha aren't the ones doing that. Mostly, fuel stabilizers are just a placebo anyway...as are 75% of the other oil/fuel products you find in any auto store.

There's the reason there are so many garages,to fix the problems of the mechanically de-clined

The alcohol is probably for a deicer. Before ethanol in gas Heat and Isopropyl were very common products here in Minnesota. Alcohol will reduce the viscosity of water which makes it easier to be carbureted or to go through fuel injectors.

It's pretty well known by most mechanics that water misting is an extremely efficient and cheap way to remove carbon. Ask anybody that's fixed a bad headgasket and they'll tell you the coolant steam cleaned the cylinders. As long as you don't pour in so much you hydrolock the engine, there is no risk what so ever of damage.

Still use it when it gets cold.....usually go through a bottle of HEET per tank in the winter.

Back in the day many of the oldtimers used water to decarb their motors, it is a technique that requires some finesse. However with the tollerances of todays modern engines i would use the products specifically designed to accomplish the required task.

You are absolutly correct OZ, I`ve done it myself, but water does nothing for the carbon that can be around the ring pack area.
