Why spend as much on shipping as the engine costs. Check the classified ads in your local paper, the bulletin board at your local grocery stores, or the boat trader magazines that sit in racks at nearly every gas station in town. You can at least see what you are buying that way.
Just bought a 1975 Johnson 6 for $600 off e-bay, with $65 shipping. It was in very good condition, and never used in salt water. The 2 strokes are fetching higher prices because you can't buy them new. I couldn't find any locally. E-bay had the best selection. Some sellers ship, but some won't. There are a lot in Michigan and Wisconsin, so you wouldn't have to drive far.
