I am sure this is a wore out subject.. A friend of mine give me a 1978 Mark Twain 20 foot Cuddy Cabin boat. It has a 305 or a 307?? with a OMC 800 outdrive. I am wanting to put through hull exhaust on it. Does anybody sell the parts to convert it or even go as far as have silent choice?

Nope,..... You'll have to re-engineer it yerself,+ build the parts.....

Google: through hull exhausts
Click 'images', and you find whatever you need of both solutions and suppliers.

The main problem you'll encounter is that when the trim is activated, the pivot is in the center of the driveline. That means that the distance from exhaust elbow to transom will change by several inches as you adjust trim.

The way I got around it, I made a slip-joint with smooth 3" rad hose, with polished 3" stainless tube inside it, with no clamps. It's a tight fit dry, but I lubed it with silicone grease. I had 4-6" of overlap so not the slightest hint of a leak.

I used the same 3" ss tube to fab the tips, and formed a 30? elbow just inside the transom to have it incline up to the elbow. I double clamped a 12" piece of rad hose to that, slipped a straight piece of 3" ss into it, then clamped the tube to the elbow with a short piece of rad hose. The upper piece of rad hose will pivot a few degrees with trim.

Once I saw that it worked well, I added a "Y" to the ss tube, put a butterfly in 1 side, connected the other side to the oem exhaust pipe going to the mid drive. I control the butterfly with a 3/4 x 2" Bimba pneumatic cylinder, activated with manifold vacuum thru a dash switch.

I havent looked to much at my boat yet but from just looking around on the internet it looks like my boat has the risers at the rear of the manifolds. Is yours like this? Do you have any finished pictures of your buld on the exhaust? If mine is the same as yours then I will try to replicate what you have.

Very true. I like noise. I got the boat for free. If this is all the money I have to put into it other than replacing the seal on the transom to keep water out of the boat, then I'll be happy. If anything I might look at putting a 350 in it but not until I can keep water out it.

It was the same. It's not now. I made double wall ss headers for it.

But if you have access to some 3" ss tube and a weld shop, anything's possible.

:D:D I like it!!!!!!!!! Id like to have headers as well, but don't want to give the 1700+ dollars to buy them. I'm a fairly crafty person but I don't know that I could build a set of double walled headers.

Got access to a tig welder and ss tube? It's just a matter of piece by piece in a logical order. I made those in my basement.
Here's an oversize ss header I made for my Kawi KLX dirt bike;

FWIW, I'm an electrician by trade, not a welder, I just happened to pick up things along the way from watching pros do it.

I don't have access to a tig. I wish that I did though. I can buy tubing though. You can sell me the ones off of your boat. lol
