It depends on how yer brain works. If yer a Liberal or a Democrat ya think it's a criminal matter or a bumper sticker. If ya jus' 'understand' the enemy n' negotiate with them everything will turn up roses. If yer a Cornservative ya know better, n' just 'cause it is a different type of war yer brain works well enough to know a war when ya see one. Cornservatives also know that Libs n' Democrats have profited politically from helpin' the enemies of the USA since the mid 1960s.

Three articles posted today to expand on this corncept a bit:

I believe we are in a state war.

Main Entry: state of war
1 a : a state of actual armed hostilities regardless of a formal declaration of war b : a legal state created and ended by official declaration regardless of actual armed hostilities and usually characterized by operation of the rules of war
2 : the period of time during which a state of war is in effect

.....wow, always great stuff on these forums. I'm just back for a day from a week of holidays & some great boating and then I'm off again tomorrow for about a week to see family.
Still...its good to touch base and see the ol' cornservatives in there swingin' (arguably clutchin' and grabbin').
Remember....Osama isn't in Iraq....he's on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border.
Reminds me of that joke where a guy walks up to another guy on the street and says "what are you looking for?" and the other replies "I lost a quarter at 14th and 7th avenue". To which the first guy replies..."why are looking here at 3rd avenue"...and the second replies "well....the lights better here".
....oh, oh....here it comes. All good and all fun.

Oh, there's plenty of facts on this forum for you libs to dispute, you choose to go after the " name callers" though, because it's really the only thing you can attack. :)
Enjoy your vacation, BP!

Methinks it would have to be something like moveon.org to "fly in his zone". :)

........ok, I'm heading for the hot tub so I just have a moment. No quips from either the 'Fox' or 'CNN' news.......'sources'. I love that word. 'Sources'.....hmmmm. Anybody have a dumb 15-18yr old around?
Facts: They have to be substantiated. period. No two-bit/tin-pot reporters.
I would seriously consider quotes from major New York or London newspapers.
Again....let me assert, I am not what you would call a Liberal.
I'm lovin' this....bring it on, bring it back

Re: War, criminal matter or bumper sticker?

OK, how's this?

In 1998, Secretary of State, Madeline Albright said:

"Iraq is a long way from here, but what happens there matters a great deal here. For, the risk that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face and it is a threat against which we must and will stand firm."

President Clinton said action must be taken to stop the Iraqi dictator or,

"do we take some ambiguous route to give Saddam more opportunities to develop this program of weapons of mass destruction and continue to ignore the solemn commitments that he made?"

That same year, former Vermont Governor and current leader of the DNC, Howard Dean said:

"There are such things as international outlaws. I'm not sure China is, but I'm quite sure Iran and Iraq are."

Sandy Berger, the National Security Advisor under Clinton said, speaking of Saddam Hussein:

"Someday, he will surely rebuild his arsenal of weapons of mass destruction and I‘m certain he will use them as he has before."

California Democrat Congresswoman, and current Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi said in 2002:

"Saddam Hussein certainly has chemical and biological weapons. There's no question about that."

West Virginia Democrat Senator Jay Rockefeller said:
"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons."

Delaware Democrat Senator Joe Biden said:
"We know he continues to attempt to gain access to additional capability, including nuclear capability."

Nevada Democrat Senator, Harry Reid said:
"Saddam Hussein has, in effect, thumbed his nose at the world community and I think the president (Bush) is approaching this in the right fashion."

That same year on Meet the Press, New York Democrat Senator, Hillary Clinton was asked by host Tim Russert:
"Do you think we could have disarmament (in Iraq) without regime change?"

Her answer:
"I doubt it! I can support the president (Bush), I can support an action (war) against Saddam Hussein because I think it's in the long term interests of our national security."

Former North Carolina Senator and current presidential candidate, Democrat, John Edwards said on MSNBC in 2003:
"Serving on the Intelligence Committee and seeing day after day and week after week the briefings on Saddam's weapons of mass destruction and his plans on using those weapons; he can not be allowed to have those weapons. It‘s just that simple!"

Indiana Senator, Democrat Evan Bayh said on The O'Reilly Factor in 2003:
"Bill, I support the president's efforts to disarm Saddam Hussein. I think he (Bush) was right on in the speech he gave. The lessons we learned following September 11 were that we can't wait to be attacked again. Saddam has not done the right thing, so we're left with no alternative but to take action."

All of the above (and much more) was said by Democrats who voted to give President Bush the authority to invade Iraq. However, like irresponsible adolescents, they invent excuses for their behavior and look for a scapegoat.

President Bush said:

"When I made the decision to remove Saddam Hussein from power, Congress approved it with strong, bi-partisan support. While it's perfectly legitimate to criticize my decision or the conduct of the war, it is deeply irresponsible to rewrite the history of how that war began. As our troops fight a ruthless enemy, determined to destroy our way of life, they deserve to know that their elected leaders who voted to send them to war, continue to stand behind them."

Sadly, the only thing those Democrats would stand behind is a white flag. With a worldwide terrorist organization plotting our demise, electing one of those poltroons as Commander in Chief could literally become a fatal mistake.

ok...take a moment. A 'war on terror'....sort of like a 'war on acrimony' or...a 'war on impression'.
Remember 'Terror' actually isn't a geographic place. Its not Germany. Its not Japan. Its a mental place....excuse the pun. So a 'war on it'.....is a hard and invisible deal.
I don't know the answer...so I can't give it to you. What I'm throwing in the ring is some quick lateral thinking...but again, think of a 'terrorism' or 'terror'.....its a frikkin' term left over from 70's movies....now throw an effort at it and defeat it. Wow.....its all uphill.
'Terror'....'Terrorism'......I wish it was single 'U-boat' in the Atlantic' or an area of land....but its a frikkin' state of mind. How in the heck do you defeat that?
Well....just ask the people that took on N.America to defeat the opposite state of mind....'freedom'.....wow, it didn't there.
You know......we have a lot in common...but I've got to bring up the lateral points for good interaction....you do know that right?

Oh, you mean like the war on drugs? but according to you that wouldn't be a war either? So why did we say it is a war on drugs if we can't have a war on something that is not geographical? However, billions of dollars have been spent on that war, people getting killed, and the drugs are still easily obtained.

The extremists are like big bullies. They don't care what you have to say because they just want you kick your butt or just down right kill you. What you have to say to them is irrelavent in their eyes.

BTW, also heard that quiet a few terrorists are turning traitors. Seems that they don't like being tortured for not following their ways.
