I have 6hp, 2 cylinder Wards Sea King outboard too. My model# is VWB19074A, and serial# is 66X 10850.

I was told mine is a 1966 model made by West Bend.

Going by that I'd say yours is a 1957 model made by West Bend.

I'm no expert, but at least this will bump your post up.

-Spiker

<EDIT>
Yikes! I was way off! Sorry!

Hi bearcamp
Your motors model# is VWB52100. this makes it a 1975 special. Both your motor and Spiker's were made under the Chrysler banner. Chrysler Marine produce these motors for Montgomery Ward to sell as their Seaking brand. Chrysler parts and manuals work for these models.

Hi Bearcamp
A book out there somewhere? Yes there are several. I use factory/dealer year/model guides for most ID's. Some of these publications may be challanging to find, but not impossible. They're like gold in a way, they are where you find them. Just start looking. For ID's on older,obsolete models I use Peter Hunn's Old outboard book. You may find a copy at your local library or purchess a copy at a book store,etc. It is a great book with tons of info. Scrounging info is just like scrounging parts, it can become habit forming. I tend to collect info on all things mechanical. So much so that storage and organization start to become a problem. I have stuff that I do know what it is, but I know someone will need it some day. I tend to get this stuff in lots, lots of it I want and lots I don't. The stuff I don't is too good to toss though. Have fun.

There is a pretty good listing of model numbers at discount-marine-parts.com/
