Can anyone help me out on this? I just bought this motor:
Clinton
Model # J 500 1106B
Serial # 353433
Type # 60-27005R

I bought this motor without hearing it run and after tinkering around a bit I think it has potential. I took the carb into a local lawn mower shop, who kindly pointed out to me that the idle needle was broken, after they found a walbro 153 rebuild kit for my carb we all noticed that the provided needle is for a screwdriver adjust and mine is hand adjustable and it goes outside the plastic engine cover. The nice folks at the lawnmower shop called there walbro distributor who told them that they don't stock the needle that I am looking for (it threads through the holes that would normally fit an air cleaner to the carb. Regardless of this I purchased the rebuild kit, fitted it to the carb, cleaned the points, new gas, gas lines etc. and I have this baby up and running. It idles o.k. but occasional misfires often kill it. What I am wondering is???? Is this idle needle really necessary, I can still turn a stub of threads to adjust the needle, it just can't be adjusted with the engine cover in place. Secondly, are ignition parts available for this motor? I cleaned and gapped the points and that seemes to have got me running but they are pitted and will likely need replacement soon. Are these something I look for at a mower shop or are these specialty marine engine parts.

Thanks for the help,

Mark
