New to this boat thing - Recieved a Wards Sea King 5 hp - Is there a quick way to tell the year to find a manual based off of the model or serial numbers? This outboard has a nice white fiberglass cover. The model number starts with a vx... maybe made by Chrysler?

Re: Wards Sea King 5hp questions

Probably VWB Would be a West Bend or early Chrysler. If you give us the whole number we may be sable to tell year and brand.I don't see a 5 West Bend or Chrysler If it is a VX it may be a Clinton.Which would be a single cylinder air cooled(fins on flywheel and cylinder under an air shroud.

Okay,

Model vwb-19072
serial# 46x12254

Looking for the normal info; year, oil mix ratio, tips or tricks that may be helpful. it's a twin cylinder, with a forward and reverse lever on one side.

Its a Chrysler Year is 1964 5HP twin.

VWB 19072 is a 64 rated at 5.5 and is a West Bend.Didn't become Chrysler till 65/66.
All the same motor around that time.Parts should interchange.
Probably not easy to find.Your best bet for a ser. manual is probably ebay.
I got my 2 aftermarket manuals there; cover all motors below 30 hp.55-70.

Re: Wards Sea King 5hp questions

Thanks for the help. Once the year was known, I have found the parts manual and other stuff over the internet.

Just need to wait for spring to see how well she will run.
