'05 50 HP Johnson. With VRO pump/VRO pump wiring pigtail delete. I get the system check beep and the lights countdown on the tach with initial start up. With temp sensor grounded on head I get the hot warning light on tach but no warning tone from new radio shack buzzer. On the wiring harness to the back of the tach there is a capped purple(switched accessory hot) and a capped white wire. What is this white wire? Tilt/trim gauge sending unit? Any help would be appreciated.

Start the mtr up once and then ground out the temp sensor and see what happens.

shouldn't have to start it just turn the key on. I ground mine out with key on and it sounds alarm... That is before my brand new alarm took a crap!. Trim wire is usually white with brown stripe

Re: Warnin buzzer fail

Thank you for your responses. The thing that really has me puzzled is that I get a beep and a system check light countdown on the tach with a turn of the key. But with the temp sender on the head grounded only the "HOT" warning light on the system check tach after the light countdown. No continuous warning from the buzzer.

Thanks again.

You get a chirp or beep when key is turned on at all?

Re: Warnin buzzer fail

I get a beep. The same beep and system check light countdown I get with my 115 on another rig. If there is no simple fix or If there is a problem with the system check circuit board in the tach. I wonder if I can just bypass the tach and run the tan wire straight to the buzzer? It just completes the ground circuit when activated when hot. With the VRO delete I really don't need the system check no oil, hot, check engine and low oil warnings anyway. Feedback?

Re: Warnin buzzer fail

On the 1996 engines and newer that have the SystemCheck guage with the 4 warning lights, the horn will not sound when you ground any of the tan warning system wires when the motor is not running. Only the appropriate warning light will illuminate if the key is in the ON position.

The SystemCheck gauge contains the electronics that sound the horn and it has to see a tachometer signal before that happens.
