Warning Alarm on Johnson 1992 120HP

My warning alarm has been going off and appears to be a fuel flow restriction because there is no performance loss. However, it also is not as loud as it used to be when I would have an issue with something and it stops making noise when I raise or lower my motor using the trim button. The alarm still gets loud and functions correctly when my oil reservoir is low. It feels like something has a short or is faulty but I'm not sure what it is at this point. Any ideas on the best way to trace this back?
