warning beep

I have a 2001 Mercury 125hp elpto when I turn the key to run postion I don't get a beep. I was wondering if this model is suppose to have a beep. I can only find one tan wire back by the motor that isn't plugged into another wire. I read on other posts that some models don't have the beep when the key is turned to the on postion. Is there any way to test if the buzzer is good.

That tan wire should go to the temp sending unit in the head. With the key on if you ground that wire the horn should sound. Makes me wonder if someone has disconnected something for a reason.

the color wire that is running to my temp sending is tan with a blue strip on the wire. I have attached a picture of the tan wire. I looked every where I can't find where this wire would plug into.
