Hi, I am having my warning buzzer go off at WOT 5200 rpms on my 88 johnson 175. It goes off as I throttle back a hair. I just replaced the water pump around 3 months ago and have hit some sand bars in between. I guess I will check the connections and go from there. Any Ideas will be helpfull. Thanks in advance. Boating rocks.

Sounds like (no pun) the fuel restriction warning. It could be anything from a restricted filter to a clogged vent to a sticking anti siphon valve.

BTW - if 5200 is all you can get you might want to look into the set up to get more. Shoot for 5800 with an average load. You and the motor will be much happier.

Good luck!

Hi thanks for the good info. I will change out the small filter again and check the water separator ect. I had it up to a higher rpm untill I chewed up the prop some on some grass beds near sebastian inlet. I have a new ballistic ss prop and that should get me back up there.

P.S. where would a anti siphon valve be. On the infloor tank (60 gal)? Or on the motor? Tim

Right at the tank outlet. You can punch out the ball as a short term measure before replacing.
