Hi all,

need a hand,I have a 90s model mariner 90hp and I don't know how to hook up the overheat buzzer,I have 2 wires from the outboard ready 2 go,1 of them has the temp sensor from head with it,and I have 2 wires from the temp buzzer ready 2 go,How do I wire them,1 of the wires from the buzzer also goes to the ignition,im guessing to give it power.

Thanx

Re: Warning Buzzer Help Please.

I have added pics,I just need to know where these wire to,

The sender wire (brown) that meets at the distribution point runs back to Where on the buzzer ?

The other Black wire runs to where ?

and at the buzzer point,One wire runs to the 12v igniton then splits and runs down the loom to meet up with one of the above wires

and the 2nd buzzer wire runs straight down to the engine to meet up with the other above wires.

Just need to work out which way around it all goes ??

Re: Warning Buzzer Help Please.

YOU have to tell US where these wires are going! ;)

Typically, One side of the buzzer (Red?) goes to +12Volts.
The other side of the buzzer goes to the Temp sender which only has 1 wire.
The temp sender shorts to ground internally to complete the circuit and sound the buzzer.

Get out your volt meter or go get one if you don't have one. This is really Not optional if you are serious.
With the wires disconnected; What voltage is on the wires going to the buzzer?
What voltage or if none, Resistance, do you see from the sender lead. (An open circuit is to be expected.)

It amost looks like the buzzer is already wired to the Sender!

Re: Warning Buzzer Help Please.

Thanx for your reply, you basically answered my question, positive to buzzer and sender to buzzer,im just confused as to what the black wire on the right hand side of first picture is for,its an earth for something and because it mounts next to the sender wire,i though it had something to do with it.

They have also jumped a purple wire of the control box onto the buzzer positive at the ignition point and run it down the loom towards the motor and it goes nowhere, that was also confusing me.
