hi all, just thought I would post this to find out if it is me or are warning lables stupid..
the wife just bought an attachment that goes on the vacume cleaner to clean cieling fan blades, it has brushes on the inside and you slide it over the blades and the vacume sucks up the dust, okay inside the box is instructions on how to use this, and on anoyher piece of paper in BIG BOLD RED LETTERS is WARNING DO NOT USE THIS ATTACHMENT WITH THE FAN RUNNING!
I had to laugh, just imagining someone standing under thier fan tring to catch the rotating blades with this thing.
heres is another I found inside every automotive brake hose box bought from napa, WARNING PLEASE REMOVE HOSE FROM BOX BEFORE INSTALLING!!

On the label on my babys infant formula is:

Add to water before serving.

Naww, I was just gonna pour the dry powder in her mouth.

Last Christmas at our local super market they had a huge display of nuts.
Above the display on a very large sign "Warning these products may contain nuts"

Most stupid things you see on warning lables are there because some Dumb @55 has done what they are warning you against.

Yes I know Coffee is Hot, it should not need a warning on a MickyDs cup but guess what

Goes back to the Rotten dirty %^$##@^ing lawyers and their "if you stub your toe, sue-m" attitudes.
No offense to any lawyers that are members of course.

Perhaps a review of the Liebeck case from the transcript might give you a different opinion of the matter.

Another interesting case settled with the big M involved coffee poured in lap of 8 month pregnant woman during exchange in drive in window. This was before the Liebeck judgement and M lowering the temperature from 197 degrees. Confidential settlement out of court.

You see the problem is at 197 degrees third degree burns can result in 3 seconds. Above 148 degrees coffee beans lose flavor as they are scalded. Anyway if you read the whole transcript you might see why the jury findings occurred. Not just a crazy jury at all.

Also, might make a difference if your child required skin grafts from burns from coffee spilled on him or her that was at scalding temps.

I agree, most warning labels seems like really goofy statements! The sad part is that, they have to put that there to cover there hind side, because some goof ball would try to use the cleaner with the fan running!!!

I actually agree with txs, MCD's did need 197 degree coffee!!!! That is almost boiling, you can't drink boiling anything!!!

X political, not sure what you mean.

Vip, be careful you shall learn before long never ever agree with txs. But you are right and that is the basis of the verdict. Dangerous for no reason.

What i want to know is who puts all those little stickers on my peaches! They're the most aggrivating little things... Don't taste particularily bad, but they can't be good for you. They're a beach to peel off.
And don't drop one on a tile floor, cause they are perminent!
There must be some migrant werker with a roll of tiny stickers standing on a line somewhere in Georgia, stickin them decals on the peaches as they pass-by -- bored outta her gourd -- Not to pick on Georgia, as they do it to apples, oranges, you name it!

But anyhoo, what's the point? Next thing they'll start putting racing stripes on them, painting them rainbow colors and putting sponsor names like "DUPONT" on them.

Makes me think of the guy who bought an RV, put it in cruise control on the hiway, then got up to go make himself a sandwich. RV crashed, of course.

He got a judgement because he was not warned to not to release the steering wheel when in cruise control.. . he thought it was an autopilot.

I think microwaves need an warning lable stating not to put living animals in it. A person put there show dog in it
to dry it off for a show. Well we all know what happens to a potato of you dont poke holes in it.

There is a warning on the driver's side visor of my car that warns about putting child safety seats facing forward in that seat. Think it's for extremely short people, or drivers under the age of 2?

The sticker is actually on both sides, but it kind of makes sense on the passenger.

Re: Warning Lables !!

I think a forewarning of warning labels is in order.I mean, just reading them causes me stress, and could lead to a potential mishap.Or not.8)

OSHA made it maditory for the powerplant I worked at to affix signs at both ends of the boiler feed pumps near the packing gland housing that read " This water is not suitable for drinking."

Like the bimbo that would attempt to drink it could even read the sign.Let alone understand it.8)Not to mention that the exiting water is near 200 degrees F and any attmpt to place your lips or a container under it near a 5"shaft turning 3600 rpm would likely result in the thirsty individual being reduced to a wet spot on the machinery if he was to become entangled. But ,I gotta hand it to the safety guys. Not one mishap to date since the signs were installed.Or before they were for that matter.8)

Here are my two favorite labels of all time.

This one is from the owners manual of my Husky 455 Rancher

Runner up goes to this label that appears both in the manual and on my Bush Hog SQ600
